Multi-objective optimization of the engine performance and emissions for a hydrogen/gasoline dual-fuel engine equipped with the port water injection system

Abstract Hydrogen is one of the most promising options being considered as fuel future. However, injection hydrogen into modern gasoline fueled engines can cause some issues such power loss. This study, therefore, aims to address this challenge in a simulated hydrogen/gasoline dual-fueled engine by developing novel and innovative approach without possible side effects NOx increment. To achieve goal, impacts water start combustion (SOC) modification gasoline/hydrogen duel have been rigorously investigated. In current methodology, an using AVL BOOST software model validated against experimental data. The Latin Hypercube design experiments method was employed determine points 3-dimensional space. Due existing trade-off between BMEP, multi-objective optimization genetic algorithm (GA) implemented optimum values SOC various energy shares parameters on main performance emission were results showed that proposed solution could recover brake mean effective pressure (BMEP) even increase it above level single with added benefit there no compared original level. Furthermore, other emissions are improved including equivalent Brake specific consumption (BSFC) which shown increased up 4.61%.
